Testimonials and FAQ's

Testimonials:

I recently constructed a flagstone patio in my back yard. This was my first project of this kind, and I had limited resources to help me with it. After doing what research I could on the internet, I decided to just jump in and hope that I'd find my way as the project progressed. After perusing several websites for local flagstone suppliers, I decided to go with The Rock Shop. This decision was originally based on the website, which is chock full of information on products and pricing with photos, testimonials and ideas. I liked knowing what to expect before walking into the store. And, while I was impressed with the website, it was nothing compared to what I found when I made my visit(s) to the shop. Emily and Mark, and everyone else working there, are amazing. I was asking a lot of questions, and they patiently and thoroughly answered every one. (Even the ones I asked more than once.) They are incredibly knowledgeable and approachable, and clearly enjoy what they do. I ordered dry screenings, pea gravel, and flagstone from them and they told me how to install it in the most efficient way (even during the very rainy month in which I was building my patio.) Being a novice, I had to go back several times for more materials as the scope of my project kept growing, and every time I was greeted by name, with a smile, and with even more advice on how to proceed. My project is now finished, and I have a beautiful patio in my back yard. The products are all top quality, and very reasonably priced. I have been so impressed with the customer service, that I will continue to go back to The Rock Shop for ALL of my landscaping supply needs. I have since gone back for topsoil for my gardens and will surely be making more trips as my landscaping design grows. I cannot recommend The Rock Shop highly enough. In an age when quality products and customer service are rare and dying breeds, The Rock Shop is a shining example of good, local people offering good, quality products at very reasonable prices. I couldn't have completed this project without them! Many thanks to The Rock Shop family!

Warmly,
Melanie Hayes

“My husband and I put a driveway in at our house, and we received about 6 loads of gravel from the Rock Shop. We were very pleased with the timely manner in which it was delivered and spread on our lot and of course the gravel itself was just perfect!”

“We have received mulch every year from The Rock Shop to spread in our natural areas and flower beds. It is of the best quality and lasts all year. We also purchased Tennessee Crab Orchard stone for a patio in the backyard and are thrilled with how it turned out! We use the patio all the time and love the color and texture of the stone. Last summer we got compost from The Rock Shop for our vegetable and herb garden and had the best crop yet! We would highly recommend The Rock Shop to anyone - the customer service and wide range of materials is unbeatable.”

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is mulch?
Mulch is an organic material that you apply to the soil to aid primarily in moisture regulation and week control. It is typically layered on top of garden beds, around trees, shrubs and other plants in your yard or landscape.

Will having mulch near my house attract termites?
The quick answer to this is no. Basically, termites can’t get much nutritional benefit from mulch and it isn’t a good food source for them.

You have many types of gravel listed on your price list. How do I know what kind I need for my driveway?
Clean 57’s are most commonly used for driveways. However, if you are creating a new driveway or parking space, Crush and Run should be used first. Crush and Run has small, sandy particles in it, which help pack down and provide a good base for new driveways. After the Crush and Run has settled, you can then top it off with Clean 57’s or 78’s for a cleaner look. 78’s are just a smaller version of 57’s.

What is in your compost?
Our compost is certified by the US Composting Council. It is composed of Turkey and Chicken Manure. Click Here to see the Compost Technical Data Sheet.

What is your delivery fee?
Give us a call. Our delivery fees vary depending on where we will be delivering. We can deliver anywhere from 2-20 cubic yards of material at a time.
